After yesterday's post on remi(herge) , i pinged Marc, a colleague of mine in Belgium about the stamps that Belgium released to mark 100 years since the birth of Tintin creator Herge on Tuesday. He just came back from the post office with the set and having posted it to my address. I am eagerly waiting the set !.

Blistering barnacles! Thundering Typhoons.. Remember the school days especially it use to be around this time of the year, summer holidays, with exams over and with all the time to kill, one would go searching for tintin . How I reminiscience those days and the joy of discovering another adventure of tintin, snowy , Captain Haddock, Thompson twins and waiting to get hold of another of the books. These comics were too expensive too buy those days and so we would wait for it to get back to the library or strike a deal with a friend who owned one to borrow it for a day. It was only last week when my young cousins -Ruskin and Rahul (Ruskin who's only 9, incase you are wondering about the name yeah he's got his from Ruskin.Bond but he is Ruskin.Iyer, quite a uncommon one!! ) cameover to my place for their summer vacations and I rediscovered it again after a long long time . " -Jack Kerouac Last sunday(20th May) was one of those days when you just wanted to go and pickup a book that you had been looking for in awhile. One just had this premonition about getting the hard to find book ! There it was in the 2nd hand bookshop, just a single copy waiting to be read . I got back home and started reading the 300 odd pages and just couldn't keep it down. Its mostly an autobiographical work of Kerouac which he wrote in an inspirational 3 weeks marathon session, which was later edited a bit before publication

Watched this wonderful and poignant film recently. It took me to a different world, into an old Italian Fishing village tucked away in time. Mario( played by Massimo Troisi ) , a young lad who has no intentions of following the usual fishing job in his village , takes up a temporary job as a postman and meets the famous Chilean poet Pablo Neruda on his trips delivering letters. Massimo's performance is one of the best ever seen on screen, its perfect to the 'T'. The relationship between the postman and the poet grows and postman learns to love poetry and also with Pablo's help and his poetry is able to communicate his feelings for to young woman he meets. The story is just perfect and takes you to a old world which still exists in villages today, where time stands still , where relationships are built and one can ponder about so many aspects of life. As the film progresses, Pablo moves on but Mario still rememebers their times together and waits to hear back from Pablo

Two Wheels -NICE Road

We took off early sunday morning on May 13th at 6:45a.m from IIMB and headed out . The NICE road is just a kickass road with sidelanes where cyclists can drive comfortably. The view around is also nice with lakes, a couple of hillocks around. Route :- IIMB on bannerghatta road -> meenakshi temple on bannerghatta road -> right turn to NICE -> keep going on NICE touching kanakpura road -> Another couple of kms on NICE from kanakpura road to Mysore road near Kengeri -> Kengeri -> breakfast at Iravatha before reaching R.V college -> R.V college -> outer ring road -> back home. Distance - Total distance is approximately 50-60kms. Time - 4 hours, plus a stopover(30mins) for breakfast. Route Condition - Great roads all the way. NICE road is awesome with only 2 ups and several downs till you reach mysore road. Coming back this way is definitely gruesome. Accordion and Vilion
