Roaming Rajasthan

A bit late but nevertheless such is the pace of work these days ..

Travelled across Rajasthan with mum this Jan/Feb.

It was a nice week spent together on road and visiting various places of interests. I was amazed with the tourist friendly nature of most places there and also cleanliness around.

We visited the following places and for lack of time skipped few like Jaipur etc.. The roads except for some part of Kumbalgarh was in top conditions for the folks who love to drive.

Udaipur->Kumbalgarh>Jodhpur->Jaiselmer->Longewala->Jodhpur

Udaipur-White City

Things I liked doing:
  • Lake Pichola and boat ride there
  • City Palace and Museum - Mor chowl, Moti Mahal, Krishna villas, Zenana Mahal, Chini Mahal etc
  • Puppet show at Bagore ki Haveli
  • Fathehsagar lake 
Skipped
  • Sound and Light show at Palace since 'Bagore ki Haveli' was far better
  • Vintage car musuem -didnt plan properly

Kumbalgarh
Its the second longest wall in the world after Great Wall of China . Though the drive to reach was quite bumpy but the view after climbing was amazing.

Jodhpur -Blue City
Things I liked doing: 
  • Mehrangarh Fort and Musuem -It has an elevator ,specially useful for elderly or disabled folks.

Jaisalmer, or “Golden City” 

  • Exploring the Golden Fort
  • Jaiselmer War Museum
  • Drove down to Khuri from Jaiselmer in search of Great Indian Bustard and Demosille Crane (with no luck). Didnt stay back at Khuri or Sam Dunes
  • Longewala

" Into the Wild . By Jon Krakauer " - This is one of those book's that has had an everlasting impression on me. It was probably about a decade back when I first read it when my mum lent it out from the library. I had never heard or read about Christopher McCandless till then. It was really difficult to get a copy of the book those days, but my mum did surprise me with a copy of the book in the coming days,something I treasure till this day. Chris, was an intelligent young man ( He graduated in June 1990 from Emory University in Atlanta, where he distinguished himself as a history/anthropology major and was also offered membership in Phi Beta Kappa, but declined it, insisting that titles and honors were of no importance) .
