Country Road take me home..

Image
Last month or so the Polo has had its run on the highway. With mom visiting , did two round trips to Chennai and back and also Coonoor and back . The car still impresses after 2years of driving ...Just a fun peppy car and german engineering.. I do see some surprised faces everytime I hit the high way as most people are surprised seeing either a single woman driver or two women on the highway :) Some pics from the recent trips   The Dream in its nascent stage....

Janurary Wanderings

Image
It had been a month or so before I had taken the car out of the city and was itching to go out.   Things started falling into place, with a transfer accepted to a new team within the company and a cousin visiting Bangalore for interviews.   Decided to take a week off before the new beginning and head out. I have been wanting to visit the temples at Aihole since my previous road trips to Badami and Hampi , but that hadn’t left me enough time to visit those ancient temples from 4 th - 8 th Century AD. So an early Sunday morning, took out my sturdy VW POLO 1.6 and hit the tarmac.. Bangalore – Badami is about 550kms and with a couple of food breaks, was there by 4pm. Tried locating KSTDC Mayura and soon found it on Ramdurga road across the chaos from the traffic junction and main thorough fare. Once I reached the large peaceful surroundings and having been lucky enough to get a clean room, I just put my feet up and rested a bit. Incidentally it was the same hotel,...

Coonoor -Different roads to the same destination

Image
Traveled to Coonoor last few months several times and took separate routes 1>Bangalore-Masanagudi-Oooty-Coonoor 2>Bangalore-Coimbatore-Satyamangalam-Mettupalyam-Aravenu-Kotagiri-Coonoor 3>Bangalore-Nice Road to Kanakpura-Malavalli-Chamrajnagar-Satyamangalam-Bhavani-Bannari-Arvanenu-Coonoor Route #1 and #3 were the most scenic (lovely green forest stretches, and lots of green farmland and ghat sections) but #3 was the best .. Trying to earn a living and planning a getway and a place to retire in Coonoor. Some more pics here

Uncertainity

Embrace relational uncertainty. It's called romance.  Embrace spiritual uncertainty. It's called mystery.  Embrace occupational uncertainty. It's called destiny.  Embrace emotional uncertainty. It's called joy.  Embrace intellectual uncertainty. It's called revelation.  --Mark Batterson

Climb every mountain

Image
Another year gone by but still trying to find that elusive dream !!  reminds me of one of my favourite song's  from 'Sound of Music' Climb every mountain, Search high and low, Follow every byway, Every path you know. Climb every mountain, Ford every stream, Follow every rainbow, 'Till you find your dream. A dream that will need All the love you can give, Every day of your life For as long as you live. Climb every mountain, Ford every stream, Follow every rainbow, Till you find your dream A dream that will need All the love you can give, Every day of your life, For as long as you live. Climb every mountain, Ford every stream, Follow every rainbow, Till you find your dream. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxsCBIxr71M

Discovering Java

Image
30th March Bangalore : Just the other day on the tennis court , I was telling one of my friend's how much fun it use to be this time of the year when we were at school , with exams over and no worries of the world and upcoming summer vacation usually meant a trip out and it struck me that life wasn't that bad after all even today. I had booked my tickets to Indonesia , a short summer vacation after all for a working person but nevertheless. The day of the journey started with my first photography exhibition at IIM , Bangalore ,after a bit of running getting prints done and framed and also the jitters of first timers.I was exhibiting my travel pictures and lots of interesting conversations happened about places, travels, photographs and some folks even wanting to purchase them to my utter surprise. I headed home from the exhibition and got myself all set for the late night flight out of the city. The only booking I had was the return air tickets. My exploration plan w...

Spirtual Wanderings in Java

Image
06th April  Yogyakarta  The bus reached Yogyakarta (pronounced ‘Jogjakarta’ and called Jogja in short) at 4:30am and I tried asking for a Guest House I had in mind and read good reviews on the internet but that turned out to be far away from the City and there were no buses at that hour. It was pitch dark and just a few people around , So I got down at Sosrowijayan street where most of the guest houses are located and asked around for a place to stay .I was told that few would be vacated around 8am , so had to sit around for few more hours. It was a grueling wait since I was tired after almost 1.5days on the road after Ijen and in the same hiking clothes.  I found a nice little pension Losmen Uttar and dumped by backpack , had a shower and just crashed out for few hours.  It was a long weekend (Easter holiday) and when I woke up and headed out to the Malioboro Street to get some food , it  was jam packed with people. Jogja , is the cultural hub of J...
