Monsoon magic and a road trip

With Rohit visiting and monsoon in full swing , there was no second thoughts when we decided to head out of the city. The last minute decision on THU to leave on Friday early morning, meant scampering to find a place to stay. Finally around 930pm got a confirmation ( even otherwise we were planning to taken a plunge and find some place for an overnight halt).Worked past midnight trying to wrap up things since I had taken a dayoff on Friday , dumped some stuff onto my backpack for a day's trip and managed some shut eyes.

We left home around 7am and started chasing the clouds towards Masinagudi. This was my third trip across that part of the state in the last few months but I just love the long stretch of forest (Bandipur and Mudumali Tiger/Forest Reserve) towards Nilgiris.
After a breakfast stop on the way and drive past the lush green forests, with good music and conversations we reached our destination nestled amongst the blue mountains in Masinagudi for lunch.
After a full course lunch , we decided to explore the surroundings (hills). The weather was just perfect with dark clouds looming and we chose a temple perched up on a hill a little further away as our target. We started our walk across the forest/village and climbed our way to the top.  We didn't find a single soul all the way to the top, probably because it was a little steep. Once at the summit we found a deserted temple floating amongst the clouds and also had breathtaking view of all the mountain ranges in the vicinity.
The climb downhill and back to the cottage was a lot easier , and just as we had reached our pit stop there was downpour . One could hear the pitter patter on the roof  as we hit the sack for short while. It was raining all evening so we decided to watch a movie (Paul) on the laptop . After an wholesome meal and completing the movie we called it a day.

Wokeup to a misty morning with deers just outside the cottage and all the ranges hidden in cloud cover. There's something about being around the serene mountains and the green cover but it was soon going to end as we had to take the long and winding road (275kms) back  towards home.

It was my first road trip with Rohit, who came to Bangalore after aeons , but It took me back to the three musketeers coming over to my place every summer vacation till a few years back before they started college and work .. But a good fun trip ..
