Blistering barnacles! Thundering Typhoons - Herge turns 100

Blistering barnacles! Thundering Typhoons..

Remember the school days especially it use to be around this time of the year, summer holidays, with exams over and with all the time to kill, one would go searching for tintin .

How I reminiscience those days and the joy of discovering another adventure of tintin, snowy , Captain Haddock, Thompson twins and waiting to get hold of another of the books. These comics were too expensive too buy those days and so we would wait for it to get back to the library or strike a deal with a friend who owned one to borrow it for a day.

It was only last week when my young cousins -Ruskin and Rahul (Ruskin who's only 9, incase you are wondering about the name yeah he's got his from Ruskin.Bond but he is Ruskin.Iyer, quite a uncommon one!! ) cameover to my place for their summer vacations and I rediscovered it again after a long long time . The comics were out of the bookshelves, the animated cds came out. Its nice to step back in time when I was around the same age 9 , and how I started of into the investigations across different continents with Snowy, Tintin ....
Things have changed a bit ever since, I can afford the books and the movie collection now unlike those days. Does it feel the same now! Nope!! But yet you try rewind and yes I do feel almost the same. Some feelings don't really change. thankfully!!

Wish Herge(remi) was here to see that his books still as much fun to so many around the world. He would been 100 on 22nd May. The first book came out in 1929, does it matter ? nope !! Not much has changed for children in this fast paced world, thankfully somethings don't change over time !

The news is also out that finally Tintin is going to hit the Big Screen starting 2009 with a movie trilogy by two major Hollywood directors Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson. I would think and hope that they do as good a job as herge when they bring it live!. I am looking forward to the movie.
